Wish upon a Star.

“Life is all about having fun, if you are not having fun and making the best of things, then what is the point of being here in the first place?”

- Madame Jeanne Calment

Why are you here in the first place? I would give out a loud “to have fun!” with matching boombastic stereos flapping on the sides. Some would probably raise their eyebrows and say “is she nuts?” or “no ambition at all ” then will continue saying blah! blah! blah! about his riches and fortune.

Haha. What if I responded with “to learn”, yes. That is an acceptable answer, and I will receive lots of nodding heads which looks like bubbles in tub. Then another answer of mine shall be “to live”, yes. Perfect. Now, they are rushing on their table sides to get their calendar desks, planning their career ahead. Shoulder to shoulder, brushing against each other, without talking and without batting an eyelash. Waiting for the elevator to open up.

50…48…46…

Dear me thought the young executive. “I have a meeting by 9″

Well. Well. Why didn’t you get here in much earlier manner? Hmmm?

30… 28… 26…24

“Shucks! Need to be at the deck for my cigarettes. Geesh. I’m craving for it now, what kind of an elevator is this by the way”, said the girl clad in leather boots and stylish jacket straight from Zara.

Well. Well. Smoke your pot at your garden wouldn’t you say?

See? and the list of thoughts will go on, all linked with the “to live” response. My third reply to that question would be “to love”. People will stop and look at me. Stare at me then after assuming they have read me all over, will say softly, take this, softly “aaaaaw….you sweet thing…you are right” then off they will proceed with ordering flowers and all. Matched with teddy bears and cuddly toys.

Artificial symbols of love, but, take this, majority of secretaries already know your favorite color miss. Hahaha. Because, it’s a yearly assignment for them. They already know the favorite ball game of your son. Birthdays, anniversaries and so on. Why?

Because your loved one, whom you thought is a “sweety” nice one, was the one signing all the checks that was used by their secretaries to buy you those roses, sweets, and all. Hahahaha.

But, haven’t you thought of this idea? That the core of my would-be response, those three phrases is all about having fun. We can cut the artificality. We can be real. To learn is to have fun, and everything about having fun. To live is to have fun, and everything about having fun, as well as To love is to have fun. and again, everything about having fun.

back to the elevator…

8….6….4….

So, let it be…

PS.

Every words here are just part of the “cliche’”. Its up to you what to make of it. Just a paragraph long of simply….cliche. Grins.

Hahaha. Words of cliches'

Hahaha. Words of cliches'

Bizarre Love "Triangle"

Another video from the genius Shelton. This made me smile, wide. Because in 4 minutes, I understood perfectly that his message talks about “loving beyond the horizons”. What the heck if you both are different. You create your world. So if others cannot fit it, they are the ones who are supposed to be “alienated”.

Haha

Persistance pays off. Love can be pursued it two people are feeling the same way. Bizarre “calls of love”.

I would have to choose “yellow” for my own phone. Hahaha. This is a feel-good one.

Story was just about 6 minutes long. But, it talked about loving the most important person in your life who is suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. Or as others would have put it “alzheimer’s in the eyes of a child”. Sad, but these really happens a lot.

See, what can you say? I learned a lot from here tonight. Thank you Shelton for that wonderful insight.

Tsinelas ng Buhay Mo (slippers of your life…)

Have you seen my slippers?

Have you seen my slippers?

Do you like to wear slippers? When outdoors, I often go for canvass and sneakers, rubber shoes and loafers. I love walking and will forever love comfortability. That is why, slippers are my choice only when it comes to roaming in the room and inside the house.

There’s a Tagalog movie before where the father of the main character said

“Siya na ba ang Tsinelas mo?” (is he your slippers?)

“Alam mo anak, kahit gaano kaganda at kamahal ang mga sapatos mo, pag uwi mo ng bahay at gusto nang magpahinga, tanging tsinelas ang hahanapin mo.”

(you know, no matter how expensive and pretty your shoes are, if you go home and would retire after the long day, you will seek for your old-worn slippers)

“Mas Luma, mas komportable. Prang pag-ibig, sino man ang dumating sa buhay mo araw araw, may tanging tao pa rin na nananatiling lumang tsinelas ng buhay mo…”

(the older the more comfortable it gets. Like love and loving, no matter how many you meet and encounter everyday, there is still this one distinct person who will stood above the rest that you want to go home and spend the rest of your life with)

What can you think about that? For me it is true. One Person above the rest. One distinct star in the universe. No matter how bright they are, how colorful they are, if you scan the horizon above, you will look for the uniquely different star within, once you caught the sight you are looking for, you will feel a certain sense of longing, belongingness and the thought of “I’m Home”.

What a feeling. So lovely. Can you relate to this feeling?

Value Meal: Rain or Shine

Best Seller – Pasta in Olive oil and spicy boiled Egg cooked in tender minutes, exact taste with pesto and black pepper

Dessert – Chocolate Mousse

Beverage – Strawberry Iced Tea (fresh from Benguet)

What a delight. Sounds foreign?Haha. Five star treatment? Definitely.  Here’s why…what a way to end the day. I only ate two meals today, 26 July 2009. first my brunch, because I woke up around 10:00 am today, braced the heat of the sun rays (so hot). We are supposed to run and do marathon today at the sea side (Roxas Blvd and along CCP), however, another big HOWEVER, I was not able to wake up at the exact right time because of my flu and semi-fever. I kept on sneezing the entire day, got confined here in the room, watching TV shows of all sorts, read a book, played PSP games, daydream but no desire to fix my room. haha. Went down several times for a drink, said hi to everyone and all  then went back up here again, back in my portal. Funny.

Then for dinner, I craved for my ultimate favorite VALUE MEAL, not Mcdo or Happy Meal, but this one:

My Lucky Me! Pancit Canton (not an advertisement, just a blog post ok?) with its loving partner, my companion, boiled egg and a bread. I just got this image from the web, but my choice of bread would have to be Pesto (that’s the perfect combination).

My Favorite Value Meal. Rain or Shine

My Favorite Value Meal. Rain or Shine

This is my ultimate favorite meal, lots of people who learned this was shocked, they never thought that I love eating pancit canton, most especially the Super Spicy Chili flavor. Haha. You know why? Because this is the only food which I can cook. Haha. Really, I am proud to say that. So even up to now, whenever discussions arises in a cafe or chats, I would boast about my ability to cook Pancit Canton with Egg. Hahaha.

One of my waterloo, really, is cooking. Because I grew up fearing the “kalan” or stove. I thought before that oil (in frying pans) would end up all on my face. “Tumatalsik kasi yung oil” (the oil kept on splattering all over the kitchen, just an exaggeration here). And that is when my “kitchen-fear” develops. I never learned to face my fear. I just love to eat.

Another factor would have to be, my mom does not really know how to cook “old Filipino Meals” too up to now. Haha. See, it is in the genes. But I too, am proud to say that she mastered the art of frying, all sorts of egg styles (nakahiga – sunny side up / nakatayo – boiled egg / halo-halo – scrambled egg), boiling water, playing with tuna’s (in cans of course) all its cooking style and that’s it. Hahaha. Whenever I would praise her about her cooking, this is her only exact line “of course, it is cooked with love that is why”. Funny. So funny.

That is why, I grew up eating bread, more bread and bread. My dad loves everything she cooked too. Haha. Good thing though that he is not into Filipino “real dishes” like Paella, Adobo, Caldereta, Tinola and so other cultured-Filipino Style-of cooking.  Lucky for us, if ever his taste buds would want that, I have an aunt who does cooking with magic. Yehey!

So my taste actually ranges from Fastfoods (burgers, fries, pastas, pizzas or as they say – the American Way), to instant-ready-to-eat-microwave-friendly ones, to Mini Stop and 7-Eleven. Haha. Full of chemicals! But, hey, look at me, at us. We all survived and was able to keep the beauty and energy of life.

I for one, believe that the support we can give out to our loved ones or to anybody else, be it in cooking or art, or choice of course really matters. Let us all fly to the moon, with our friends and family members as our feathers and wings for us to fly.

I will definitely eat Pancit Canton again. Definitely.

Would you like me to cook one for you? It’s on me…I will include 2 special boiled eggs on the side and a Pesto bread matched with Red Ice tea as a perfect treat. How about that?

Wink.

Another Modern Hero: Mr. Bren Bataclan

Mr. Bren Bataclan, the man behind the Smile World project. I first learned about his advocacy thru Reader’s Digest. He got featured there and his way of spreading happiness and support around the globe through art is so unique. He would leave out a painting (very colorful and beautiful, wide eyed and just smiling back at ya) with a note on it. Then, the destined reciever of that painting shall email him if they got his artwork. He was able to inspire lots of individuals he does not even know of. Amazing!

Then, just tonight, he got featured again in Mel and Joey. I said to my mom “hey! he is the one I  am talking to you about the other day, about the superartman who used to give out his paintings to people for free!” Yes. I was excited. Because he is here in the Philippines (he is a Filipino by blood and by heart). I emailed my relatives in the states just now to ask if they were able to see his galleries there. Gee. I am so waiting for their response now.

Based on his segment at M&J, he was able to uplift lots of individuals in dire need of a friendly support, who felt lonely and alone, and his painting seems to be just the (long distance) support they need. Those wide eyed images seems to be saying “everything will be alright” through each and everyone’s major up and down challenges of life. I think he believed that everyone who elicits a genuine smile, shall draw another smile from somebody else’s lips. Stretching those muscles and giving out a silent word of companionship. Smile is addictive. Never underestimate the power of smile.

Kudos to Smile Advocacy!

Oh! Its Just Mr. Bean.

Mr. Bean. This Tv series which started exactly January 1, 1990, played by Rowan Atkinson, is still up to its peak with re-runs on cable tv and as an animated cartoon. Its first episode ended year 1995, with over 200 countries play run. Back in diapers (just kidding), I have been watching him go “gaga” over simple-everyday-life situations, which often puts him into a wacky position. As Atkinson mentioned in Wikipedia, Mr. Bean is “a child in a grown man’s body”. Always curios and naive. Haha.

These are some of my favorites:

This is the first Mr. Bean episode which got me really laughing. I was 10 years of age I think. I love sandwiches, but watching him made one?I think I’ll pass for this one. Haha.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnaRp0x_kQM&hl=en&fs=1&]

How could Subway and Brother’s Burger top that? Next One includes his Train experience. I love reading in trains like MRT and LRT and I often do this everyday. His version is another funny moment.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5qniuZG8Rg&hl=en&fs=1&]

I usually do not like to go to the Dentist. Haha. I guess, I am afraid of them. Ewww. But, I do annual tooth check-up though and Mr. Bean does not like them too… snickers…

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mpDdSErO8c&hl=en&fs=1&]

How do you love the beach? I for one love it so much. The sound of the waves gives me chills everytime. But, if Mr. Bean shall accompany me there, hahahaha. No way. I’ll lose myself laughing my head off. Another tip, this episode is one of those earlier ones, look at his mini cooper, its still the old orange-rusty color. Wink.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76YQBNrqaz0&hl=en&fs=1&]

Mr. Bean, kudos to you. You always give out hilarious drama, which can usually fill the bubbles inside somebody else’s head. It may wipe the sadness away. My stomach hurt from laughing again. Thank you.

Unicef Advocacy

I have always been a supporter of several organizations which aims to promote awareness, provide care, education and self-less love like Make-A-Wish Foundation, World Vision, WWF and Habitat for Humanity to name a few. Then as I was visiting Unicef’s page at Youtube! I became attached to their videos way back last 2007 about kids’ rights. Let me save here some of those who are included in their Top Ten Cartoons for Children’s Rights as selected by Communicators and broadcasters through their Polls

I encourage everyone to please help out those who need your love, care and support, in any manner that you can. Let’s all stop the apathy. We can all feel, at most times, we just tend to ignore the urge to help.

Booming Shouts of a Silent Yellow Leaf

fall….

ahh…leaves were starting to say “bye!”…

how come they used to be green?

then, after some melancholic days of staying put in the tree,

they will exhale the last breath of life they have…

whoosh…whoosh…whoooooosh….

there came the wind,

shhhk…shhhhkk…there came the rustling of dead leaves…

geesh…nothing is really permanent…

everything dies…

bye leaf…

you’ve touched someone…me…

but, i dont wanna be yellow yet…

i’ll fight…fight…coz i love to stay as a fat, healthy green one…

please permit me? please?

they need me still…

yellow leaf…oh you’re so near…

can you still hear me?

shhhh….shhh…

it wont hurt….

Silent Ray of the Sun

Sunlight.
Sunlight…
Yes, sunlight…
The one powerful light emerging from the past stillness of the night.
Have you met sunlight?
If you’ll ask me, yes I did.
Sunlight touched my life like a whirlwind,
Fierce, strong, fast…so fast…
I almost forgot myself,
Giving my all,
sacrificed a lot,
almost broke all the ties I’ve had,
ties so important to me…
just for sunlight…

I never mentioned all of this pain,
For I do not want sunlight to bother with my rain,

I made our tie strong and true,
Free from inhibitions and idealism,
Free from culture and realism…

Gut said “stop”. Period.
Heart said “don’t”. Go on.
Who am I to choose?
Who am I to question?
Who am I to doubt HIM? The mighty One above…

My faith serves as my strength.
For I know sunlight won’t come into my life if it weren’t for HIM,
But, somehow, the ONE made me realize,
That this happiness I’ve had with sunlight,
Cannot last forever even though I still believe it would…
Scenes turned left,
And the play stopped abruptly.
Flowers died,
Leaves fell
Soil eroded
Water flooded
Hearts ached
Lives changed.

Tears flowed,
flowed without a ‘sound’ in the middle of the night.
Night was dark
I cannot see sunlight.
I looked and searched my heart,
Sunlight was there,
perched and safe inside my heart.
Thank God…Thank You…

But somehow, I know,
The sunlight inside of me was different now…
Sunlight cannot be the same now…

Morning came,
I feel dead.
Laughter which I naturally possess is now missing.
Where is myself again?
Damn this pain. Damn this heart that felt.

It will be harder for me to pick myself up again.
Again! Yes, again…
I do not know where my fate lies…
But I’m hurting,
hurting so badly.

The reality was vague now,
The ideal and promising tie I had with sunlight before is now gray…
Tears flowed from my cheeks again,
I cannot explain, I cannot accept…
I cannot look, I cannot talk,
I cannot comprehend, I cannot think,
I cannot work, worst…I cannot love…

I’m crushed.
I’m done.
Sooner or later I’ll forever be gone…
This heart of mine that believed, loved and lived,
Broke into pieces,
For it is hard for me to face the fact:

“That sunlight was already dead.
Dead.
Inside of me, sunlight was grasping its death…

Damn!

12:01 AM.
