Brushed by Death…oh dear.

22 May 2009…

Death brushed my side, for the second time around. My life I mean… This happend one morning, as I was on my Usual Great mood swing… singing to the tunes of Beyonce’ and confidently striding Ortigas Ave.

I never imagined my life could flash instantly in front of me that instant. It has been vague, almost imaginary.

My failures, my experiences, accomplishments (in my own little way), my loved ones..oh dear my loved ones…they all suddenly cramped into my visionary pathway as the bus 99% almost hit me.

It already hit my sling bag, imagine the slight measure of difference of the bag from my body!!! it was so close! my bag was hit, and then fell to the other side of the ground, As i heard somebody shouted “tabi!” Its an instant happening. If i moved a slight inch, i could have died!

My knees were shaking, I was controlling myself from collapsing in EDSA. I was so frightened.

Then after seconds of controlling myself, i regain consciousness, and just cried.

I cried my life out of appreciation for it. I thank God. Thank you. I know i’ve been living in a borrowed life, but I told Him, I am not yet ready to go..not yet..not now… Ive got lots of things to do for Him and for my family and friends. I have to give something back pa. I have to.

Thank you death for brushing my side… It got clean somehow.

Look Man, Look Up…

“This is not the worst, this is just worse”

Ever felt the desire to escape? Flee from everything you live with at the moment? From any one, to search for the silence you need to hear within yourself? Because there were times when life gets quite noisy – you cannot even hear anything at all. You wanted to scream but you cannot, you wanted to just laugh out loud but you cannot, you wanted to guffaw but you cannot, you wanted to act insane, but you cannot. Why? Because there are norms that govern us people. And to be honest, sometimes, I hate it….

He Said, She Said

Communication is one key factor in keeping this sane society alive and kicking butts…not cigarette butts…

There were thousands of amazing people around the globe, all may influence each one of us by the way they think, act and speak. Some may even fight for what they think is the righteous way of living, even if certain sacrifice has to be made. A lot of us are hungry, always hungry for the truth, stability, freedom, change, passion and love. Our appetites never seemed to be full; it’s like filling an entire scope of the sea, with all the ends available just to the limitations of our eyesight, but, sadly, poor eyesight.

In all the years I’ve come to experience everything within my reach, I have stumbled upon these amazing individuals, with their outstanding wisdoms plastered and manufactured by several text context there is available. Their thoughts are amazing, they did me good just by understanding their words and reasons, not fully taking everything into account for my own benefit, but, for inspiring me to think in a similar and analytical way.

Let me share along what HE SAID, SHE SAID

“You have your brush, you have your colors, you paint paradise, and then in you go”

– Nikos Kazantkis

“You are who you are and where you are by what has gone into your mind. You change who you are and change where you are by changing what goes into your mind”

-          Zig Ziglar

“If you have made mistakes, there is always another chance for you; you may have a fresh start any moment you choose. For this thing we call “failure” is not the falling down, but the staying down.”

-          Mary Pickford

“We are continually faced by great opportunities brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems”

-          Lee IOCOCCA

“A winning Philosophy is the result of a few basic disciplines practiced each and every day” – Jim Rohn

“The world is a reflection of you. When you hate yourself you hate everyone else, but when you love being who you are, the rest of the world is wonderful”

-          Louise Hay

“The only limits are, as always, those of vision” – James Broughton

“When the archer misses the mark, he turns and looks for the fault within himself. Failure to hit the bull’s eye is never the fault of the target. To improve your aim…improve yourself” – Gilbert Arland

“Each one of us is setting an example for someone else, and each one of us has a responsibility to shape the future as we wish it to be”

-          Mahatma Gandhi

“You see things and you say, why? But I dream things and I say, Why not?

-          George Shaw

Those are just some of the amazing sayings of those individuals; some were not even famous, just simple individuals who maintain a very positive outlook in life. May these inspire you, the reader, in a way, to act, think, and believe…

Leaders are readers…and readers are leaders… – anonymous.He

Staying Ahead…SMARTly…

If a man knows not what harbor he seeks,
any wind is the right wind.
-Seneca

Competition is an adamant reaction everywhere. Individuals tend to compete for ranks, money, power, love and life. Being an employee for example, it is expected that you give your outputs the best effort that you can. Go the extra mileage, push yourself further to reach and meet your limitations. Never be afraid to develop your self, do not look at the pit stops in between. Do not waste time. For in every second, there comes the additional beat of “learning” (which I may wish to reiterate, a life-long one).

Majority of job seekers out there, especially those who are just starting their career path tends to oversee their own capabilities. The question is “Why?” what made them believe that they cannot give out or perform well, rather, cannot reach their goals and their dreams? Those inhibitions are pulling them down in the mock of distress, blinding them in a way that they cannot see their goals anymore. As Jack Canfield in one of his discussions says “If you wanted to lose weight, you cannot hire somebody to do the push-ups for you or hire somebody to cut out fatty food intakes for you “and that is definitely true. It is an innate desire that should well-up within, for you to be able to succeed more and achieve greater heights. The positive attitude of saying “Yes, I can” must come from your inner being. Positive attraction also depends upon your positive outlook in life; there is more to life than trying to see all the downfall of something. Take mistakes as part of your perplex individuality which may be an inspiration, you learned something and is now ready to grasp additional knowledge and wisdom in order for you to overcome that negativities in your life.

Take repetition for example, as Og Mandino stressed out in his writings, those methods he teaches, stems up from affirmations and repetitions of a goal, making it a habit, then after a while turning it into a discipline. Some experts say that it takes around 21 days to create a habit. But one realization I encountered was it can only take several minutes to actually develop a habit. Having and understanding your target goal and acceptance of everything that came up with it (hardships, challenges, faults) makes it already a habit that you are itching to start as a “discipline” already. Thinking about your goal every morning helps shape up your desire for actually achieving it, thus without you knowing it through your practices and actions, your goal is now just within your reach, and that is self-fulfilling prophecy.

How many times have you been SMART? In defining your goal, these modern characterizations might be able to help you along the way:

S – Specific (think of a specific goal that you would want, stick to it for more chance of its attainability)

M – Measurable (set your criteria on how to measure you goal progress)

A – Attainable (having defined your goals, you will make all positive ways of developing your attitude, abilities, skills in order for your goal’s attainment, you will begin to see possible opportunities of doing so which will lead you closer to your target dream or goal)

R – Realistic (for your goals to be realistic, you must decide on something which you are willing to do and at the same time you can do. Its progress depends upon you

T – Timely (your goal must have its own time frame, for without one, there is no sense of any urgency at all, it might take you years and years, but still, it depends upon you. Your timeframe must be in a strict manner which only you can make it flexible.

That is GOAL setting, almost all of us are doing this already, in major or minor way, even in the simplest detail of our life we have to make decisions, choose and live with it. Enjoy life. Held your head up high and do what it takes for you to reach your greatest sense of achievement. You are an achiever. You can be the best that you wish to be, focus, read, interact, learn, be humble and you can definitely Stay Ahead.

Yes, you can!

Philadelphia…Touching.

I am on my second day of sick leave right now (and i hope this is the last day), this gave me the privilege to watch movies and movies in a row. I am now down to Philadelphia, a movie bout a homosexual (played by Tom Hanks) who is suffering from AIDS and who at that time got fired by his employer because of his illness. What a remarkable story, law sets in, talks about equality and fairness.

And while he is dying, he sets to fight for his rights, law is trying to conceal all of his rights..for he is also a lawyer himself.

Fighting for something which he is not even sure he can stand up (physically for).
